What’s the worst that can happen?

markus-spiske-104913When making decisions in business and life, I generally use this question as a guide. Six months on from setting up my own clinic and helping to update the systems of another health care business, it’s served me very well. My new clinic http://www.compassphysio.ie is also progressing well. I work there two days a week and have an employee for the other days. The existing clinic we helped transform, now has a clear plan in place as to where it wants to go and the clients it wants to see. They have a clear exit strategy with excellent systems in place to make the business run more efficiently. The process of transformation isn’t that difficult, it’s more about valuing yourself to make the investment in your business and in turn, your future. So I’m going to ask my favourite questions, regarding business in healthcare, to encourage or prompt you, to make some changes.

What’s the worst thing that can happen if I take the FREE PracticeNav Audit? Absolutely nothing – you’ll get a benchmark of where your business is at and how you can improve it. What’s the worst thing that can happen if I get a FREE website review? The web developer may tell you that your website is not very good and it needs updating, this might be something you already know. Following an update, you may get more business because the search engines online recognise that your website is not from the 90s! Alternatively you don’t change your website and nothing changes. What’s the worst thing that can happen if I send my database a message? Providing you have their consent to send clients offers, then the worst thing that can happen is someone complains or they unsubscribe. Apart from that people will book in for appointments which isn’t a bad thing for your business!!

What’s the worst thing that can happen if I raise my prices? You lose a few customers who are price sensitive and undervalue your service, but you will make the difference up following the price raise. My advice is not to raise your prices by more than 10%, if you double your prices, then yes people will not pay for your services. The worst thing that can happen is you make more money. Also, there is never a good time of the year to do this, so start today.

What’s the worst thing that can happen if do a seminar in the local hall? I gave a seminar in a gym once, where one person turned up! However I learnt from the experience, improved my presentation skills and marketing skills. Following this 25 people turned up for the last seminar I held and I got 4 clients from it. Put yourself out there, it will only improve your skills and in time grow your business.

In my humble opinion, I feel there is more to life than worrying about small stuff, so make some changes today and plan for your business.
