Are you driving with the brakes on?

brakesHave you ever driven your car 100M and realised you had the handbrake on? Once you take it off, the car moves more efficiently. Now think about your business as a car for a moment, what’s the equivalent of the handbrake in your business? It took me a long time to realise that my control issues were my handbrake and my staff could do a lot of the work I was doing. In the end I wasn’t utilising my staff’s skills and experience. Let me give you a couple of examples.

Admin: Do you still do a lot of chasing accounts, payroll, posting to social media etc? Well if your admin team are well trained (If they are not it’s your fault) then they can do most of this work for you leaving you to focus on the business or see your clients. If you don’t have an admin team then get a virtual assistant, they’re brilliant and I currently use two for my new clinic. One for data entry and the other for answering the phones and making bookings.

Staff: Get your clinical staff to start writing blogs, visiting doctors, follow up phone calls  with clients in the times when they are not actively seeing clients. If you don’t have clinical staff, you should be doing this in your own downtime instead of wasting it on outsourceable tasks (see above). Also ask your staff what ideas they have for your business, if you don’t have staff you can always ask your clients how they feel the business could run better. The more ideas you have the more options you have.

Systems: So you’ve taken the plunge invested in a decent system such as cliniko, physitrack, google drive etc. However unless you really know how to use it you are only making more work for yourself. The more information regarding clients, referrers and transactions you input into the technology the easier it will be to use. If you are not sure on how to use these systems then ask an expert like PracticeNav or watch youtube videos on the topic.

So get the most out of your business by using it to its full potential, once you release all your “brakes” then things will start to run a lot smoother. To find out how PracticeNav can help release your business brakes take our Online Audit which gives you instant results.
