Social Media and Healthcare

Social media.jpegDo you think about social media along the following lines?

All I want to do is be a healthcare professional, I don’t care about bookface
I don’t have time for all that social media nonsense
I wouldn’t get any business from it

If you share these thoughts then unfortunately you’re the equivalent of a dinosaur in business and missing out on a lot of potential clients. If done well social media is an effective way to engage your audience (potential clients) and your client base. To make it easier to do social media here are some simple tips to help.

Integration: How many platforms are there at the moment, definitely over ten. If you only use two platforms such as Facebook and Twitter then you can link them together so that whatever you write on one platform appears on the other, the same goes for instagram. If you are using more than three platforms then I’d recommend hootsuite which allows you to post on numerous different platform (Up to five for free)

Scheduling: If you come up with an idea for a post, you don’t have to post it straight away. There is a scheduling function on almost all of the social media platforms. In my opinion it’s best to post between 6am – 8am or 6pm – 9pm, as people are travelling to and from work or else relaxing on the sofa flicking through their phone.

Outsourcing: If you don’t really understand technology or computers then outsource the task to someone who does. I’m sure there is someone you know who is very “good” on computers and tech stuff. The only problem with this aspect of it, is that you need to ensure the content is a representation of what your business stands for.

Batching: Developing a marketing plan based on the time of year is a very effective way to use social media. Important dates such as xmas, easter, mothers day, fathers day, etc can be tailored to promote certain products or services within your business. You can sit down and write all your content in one afternoon and schedule it for the future dates.

Original: The more original your content is the better it is for the google rankings (Google uses social media platforms to rank websites)of your business. Having good original content on a regular basis is important to grow your database and also helps to build your credibility with your audience. It’s an easy way to show that you’re an expert within your industry. Tip – posts with pics and videos have a higher engagement rate on social media
