So it’s coming to the end of January and you feel the year is sliding out of control already. I find one of the best ways to get some motivation back is to see how other people have succeeded in life and business. One of the easiest ways to do this is to read a book and get more knowledge. When I had my own business I read a book called the “E-Myth”, it completely changed my approach to my business. As professionals we emphasise so much on keeping up with new techniques within our industry, that we sometimes overlook the upkeep of our business skill set.
Now you might say I don’t have time to read a book, however that’s just another excuse. In the information technology age you can now download an audiobook or listen to an entire book on youtube. Again you may say, “when am I going to get time to listen to the book?” If you drive a car or commute to work, chances are you will have an hour a day to gather information from a book. In 1 month you could have two books read/listened to.
Another great way to get some business tips and tricks is to listen to podcasts (mostly free). Podcasts are a great way to stay on top of business innovations which are changing on a yearly if not quarterly basis.

If you read a book and its changed your approach to business please share it with us. The above books are only a small sample of what I’ve read but I guarantee you will take something from each book that may change your business completely. However in saying all of this as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe once said “Knowing is not enough; we must apply”. You can read all the books in the world but have to put it into practice.
